99th Ave Siphon Structure at Interstate 10 Rehabilitation and Reconstruction

When it comes to problem solving, we are the foremost experts in the water and wastewater industry. For this project, the Arizona Dept of Transportation (ADOT) would not let the city utilize the bridge over the ACDC canal. They were going to have to build a costly bridge specifically for the bypass lines to dry up the siphon. Instead, we decided to utilized flow through plug technology to isolate the flows inside the existing structures and rehabilitate the inlet and outlet. Patty Kennedy was the project manager for the City of Phoenix at the time and is now the deputy director of engineering for the city. On this project, JPCI Services was commissioned to rebuild two sewer siphon structures while in continuous operation. A special steel manifold was engineered along with flanged flexible plugs to bypass 50 million gallons of sewage per day. All done in house, JPCI Services started by removing the top of the structure. Once this was done, the bypass manifold was set in place and the work was started on preparation of the existing structure. Rebar was set, forms were placed, and concrete was poured. After the forms were stripped, we poured new fillets in the bottom and simply removed the bypass to line the structure. This project highlights the unique innovation our company employed when a standard bypass could not be used. We have the skillset for better and advanced solutions for the cities we service that can saved them hundreds of thousands of dollars and complete projects the right way; on time.

Having worked with the City of Mesa for decades to develop a strong reputation for quality work and timely project performance, we were proud to get awarded the opportunity to repaint our wonderful community Mesa Arts Center. We used top quality exterior paint throughout the intricacies of the building including stairs, windows ledges, awnings, posts, and walls. We designed the project to be completed using secured scaffold and harnesses on top of the roof as needed for the high work.
